  About the Society
Chinese Medical Association (CMA) is a non-profit national academic organization in China. It is an important social force in the development of medical science and technology and a connection between government and medical professionals. Established in 1915, CMA now has 88 specialty societies and 677,000 members in China.

The Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University (OGHFU) is an academic center evolved from Xi Men Women and Children Hospital–a missionary hospital and the first women and children hospital in Shanghai donated by an American woman, Ms. Margaret Williamson in 1884. The hospital has developed into a full-fledged academic center and specialized in women’s healthcare. It also serves as the demonstration site for hospital service standards for obstetrics and gynecology.

Shanghai Institute of Planned Parenthood Research (SIPPR) is affiliated to Shanghai Academy of Science & Technology and is a social welfare research institution in the field of family planning and reproductive health. It has been recognized as a Collaborating Center for Research in Reproduction by the World Health Organization since 1983. Its main responsibilities include: providing scientific and technological support for meeting Chinese people’s needs for family planning and reproductive health; providing policy-making consultation for health and family planning authorities of different levels to design relevant polices and promotion models; and providing society with public services by popularizing popular science and publishing technical journals and other forms.

  About the Journal

Reproductive and Developmental Medicine, sponsored by Chinese Medical Association, Shanghai Institute of Planning Parenthood Research, Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, is a peer-reviewed online journal with Quarterly  print on demand compilation of issues published. The journal’s full text is available online at http://www.repdevmed.org. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.


While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

Reproductive and Developmental Medicine (RDM) is an international peer-reviewed journal reporting original articles, case reports, opinions, debates and topical reviews on the subject of reproductive and developmental biology, and reproductive medicine. Papers published cover the basic, clinical and translational researches relevant to, but are not limited to, reproductive endocrinology, reproductive immunology, embryo development, birth defect and heredity, infectious diseases, new techniques and methods in reproductive and developmental biology.

RDM pays great attention to the timeliness of publishing. All manuscripts accepted will be published 90–180 days from the date of submission
